Lisabeth Degnan from Affinity Federal Credit Union and Guy Catapano, MIPH, Board President

In December 2002 Lisabeth Degnan from the CEO's Office of Affinity Federal Credit Union, Basking Ridge, NJ and Chair of Community Service received a request from MIPH for a journal ad in the upcoming fundraising dinner scheduled for March 2003. Ms. Degnan said at the interview for this article that her interest was "sparked" when she researched and understood the work of MIPH. Her enthusiasm about MIPH’s mission was the seed that prompted Ms. Degnan to promote MIPH as benefactor of Affinity's Annual Charity Golf event which resulted in our organization receiving a check for $30,000.

The "Corporate Connection", business and non-profit organizations entering a relationship with a common interest, begins with one person taking the time to find out how and who is helping the needy in the community. That one person in this instance is Lisabeth Degnan. Along with the financial assistance, Lisabeth and a team of eleven outstanding volunteers from Affinity have been teaching weekly financial education classes for the past two years at Amandla.
